Alexa Skill URL
If you have an Alexa Flash Briefing Skill for your podcast, you can add the URL to it's page in the Amazon Store.
What Is an Amazon Alexa Podcast Skill?
An Alexa Podcast Skill (officially part of the “Music & Podcast Skills”) allows your podcast to be accessed via Alexa voice commands – for example: “Alexa, play the podcast [Name]”.
With this kind of skill, you can:
- make your podcast available through Alexa,
- enable playback, pause, skip, and resume via voice,
- make individual episodes accessible by title or date,
- embed your own streaming URL (MP3 or HLS),
- optionally gather usage statistics.
What Happens in Alexa?
When a user starts your podcast using a voice command:
- Alexa recognizes the name and invokes your skill.
- Your system provides the correct audio stream.
- Alexa plays the episode on the device.
Do I Need to Build My Own Skill?
Not necessarily. If your podcast is already available on platforms like Amazon Music, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts, Alexa can find it automatically.
However, creating your own skill gives you more control – for example, for exclusive content or custom search behavior.
Note: Amazon has discontinued the older "Flash Briefing Skills." New podcast integrations should use the Music & Podcast API.
