Automatic Metadata Import of Audio Files
Podigee can import embedded audio metadata into the episode after upload. It is not necessary to publish the episode first. Wait until processing is complete. Then examine the imported fields before publication.
If your audio file contains metadata, the relevant fields in the episode editor will now be pre-filled automatically – saving time and reducing redundancy.
Audio format and metadata
The file format and its embedded tags have an effect on metadata import. A supported audio file does not automatically contain all the metadata types below. Examine the title, image and chapter marks after import. You can add missing information manually.
What gets imported?

⚠️ Good to know
- A supported audio upload can trigger metadata import, including a replacement audio upload. Existing populated fields remain unchanged.
- Existing values won’t be overwritten – e.g. if you’ve already set a title manually, it stays as is.
- Users who prepare an episode without audio and upload the file very late might not benefit from automatic metadata import, as some fields may already be filled.
If metadata is missing
Make sure that the uploaded file contains the metadata. Examine the episode fields for existing values. The import keeps existing text, images and chapter marks. The title from the file can replace an automatic default title. If information is missing, give support the file format, applicable fields, podcast name and episode. Do not upload the file repeatedly or remove existing information to force an import.
This automatic audio metadata import is skipped for uploads containing multiple audio tracks and for video uploads. Dropbox files are processed after transfer. Raw AAC files do not provide metadata through this importer; available tags differ between other formats.
