Publishing Video Podcasts to Apple Podcasts
With Podigee, you can publish video podcast episodes directly to Apple Podcasts. This guide explains how to set up video delivery and what to expect.
Prerequisites
- Your Podigee plan must include the Video Podcasts package
- You need access to your own Apple Podcasts Connect account
How to Set Up Video for Apple Podcasts
Step 1: Enable Video Features
Go to your podcast's Exports & Connections tab. You will see a banner at the top inviting you to enable video features. Click Enable video features and confirm the beta acknowledgement.
Step 2: Claim Your Podcast in Apple Podcasts Connect
Your podcast needs to be in your own Apple Podcasts account (not managed by Podigee). If it is not already, use Apple's "Transfer" or "Claim" process in Apple Podcasts Connect to move it to your account.
Enter the claim token you receive from Apple into the corresponding field in Podigee.
Step 3: Upload Your Apple API Key
- In Apple Podcasts Connect, go to Users and Access > Integrations > Keys
- Generate a new API key (type: Media)
- Download the
.pemkey file - Back in Podigee, upload the
.pemfile in the Apple Podcasts connection settings (Step 2 in the setup wizard)
Podigee will automatically verify your credentials. Once confirmed, you can proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Enable Video Delivery
In the Apple Podcasts connection settings (Step 3), toggle Enable Video to ON. Podigee will set up the connection to deliver video to Apple Podcasts.
Publishing a Video Episode
Once video delivery is enabled, simply upload a video file (instead of an audio file) when creating a new episode. Podigee handles the rest automatically:
- The video is encoded into the format required by Apple
- The video is delivered to Apple Podcasts when the episode is published
- You can track the delivery status in the episode's Media tab
Replacing Audio with Video on Existing Episodes
You can also add video to episodes that were originally published with audio only. Simply remove the existing audio file and upload a video file instead.
Good to Know
- It's your choice: You decide for each podcast and each episode whether to upload video or audio. There is no requirement to publish every episode as video.
- Video is currently in beta: Video features are free during the beta period. Pricing details for the full release will be communicated in advance.
