Clone a podcast
Use podcast cloning to create a separate podcast from an existing podcast in Podigee, if your account has this function. The result is not an exact backup of every setting and file.
Before you clone
Make sure that you have permission to copy the source podcast and create another podcast. Examine your account's podcast capacity and plan conditions. A clone does not move ownership or replace the source podcast.
Create and examine the copy
- Open the source podcast and More Options.
- Find the podcast clone action. Read the confirmation and make sure that you selected the correct source.
- Start the clone if you want to create this separate podcast. If the option is unavailable, contact your account administrator or support.
- Open the new podcast. Examine its title, subdomain, publication status, and episodes.
- Wait for the episode copy operations to complete. Play the copied media and examine any errors before publication.
What is copied?
- Podcast: The copy gets the title with a copy label, description, author, language, categories and other podcast settings. It stays with the same owner account. It gets a new subdomain and podcast GUID.
- Access and appearance: The podcast cover, blog image, text snippets and podcast editors are copied. The blog is created separately. A custom blog theme and its files are not copied as a complete website. Examine the copied access protection and team access.
- Episodes: Episodes are copied in background jobs. Text, episode numbers, season, cover images and chapter marks are copied. Each episode gets a new GUID.
- Media: The existing MP3 file is copied. Other audio formats, audiograms and video files, including HLS, are not copied. A copied video text field does not mean that the video file is present.
- Not copied: Existing download statistics and platform connections are not copied. The ad provider, ad collection, ad-free feed and token, and Apple claim token are reset. Examine copied website, feed and platform links before you use them.
Publication status
The new podcast is initially unpublished. Its copied episodes keep their original publication dates. This includes scheduled dates. Examine and change the episode dates before you publish the new podcast. Episodes with past publication dates can then become available in its feed immediately.
Permissions and limits
You must have administration permission for the source podcast to clone the whole podcast. The 2026 value-based plans include the clone function. For older plans, the subscribed clone function applies. The account must also have capacity for another podcast. An unpublished clone counts as a separate podcast.
Copying an existing MP3 file does not start a new audio encoding. If you later encode the copy again, the target account's audio conditions apply. Plans with unlimited audio minutes do not subtract limited encoding minutes. Publication limits and other allowances are separate.
What to examine before publication
- Title, description, artwork, website, and feed URL.
- Episode count, dates, numbering, chapters, and audio playback.
- Add any necessary video files separately.
- Access protection, team access, and private-feed settings.
- Advertising settings and active platform connections.
The new podcast and its episodes must not be treated as the original platform listing. Do not use a clone as a hosting migration that must keep the original episode identifiers. Use the podcast import procedure for a hosting move.
Only publish the copy after these checks. Cloning does not remove the limits or possible processing costs of your plan. Contact support if a copy is missing or an error occurs.
